A high-stakes summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly being planned in Budapest to negotiate an end to the war. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the leader of the country at the center of the conflict, has not been invited.
In response, President Zelenskyy has publicly stated he is ready and willing to join the talks if he receives an invitation, either for a three-way meeting or for separate “shuttle diplomacy.” The development comes after a tense White House meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy, and it raises critical questions about whether peace in Ukraine can be decided without Ukraine at the table.
